After trying out best to “Interview” contractors around the area that were familiar with the local zoning laws and permitting process, we were given the name from a friend of Blakewood Construction Inc. - Prior to hooking up with Blake it had been a bad process with playing phone tag other builders and people not showing up and non returned calls, VERY Frustrating. After making initial contact with Blake, we met multiple times and he was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of pointers on items we had not thought about previously but would surely come up during such a large renovation. (After hearing horror stories of “Builders” we were very concerned with who we signed up for this job which would be a substantial amount of money for us).
He steered us clear of multiple changes that we wanted during the process and kept reminding us of our budget and to try to stay within the budget. Unlike many contractors we had interviewed Blake (Of Blakewood Construction) started life as a carpenter and was on the job doing the more intricate work himself, vs just subbing out aspects of the job to other people. (For example on windows finishes and trim work and hand railings on stairways, etc.)
The was completed on time and with a few small exceptions (that were our choosing) we came in on budget. - we could not be happier with his service and are actually in the market to do a remodeling of another home we own and we are going back to utilize his service again. (We passed his contact information on to one of our neighbors and they too used his services after having a massive leak and flooding in their house, and he dealt with not only the homeowners but also with the insurance company to a successful ending for all).
